We've known Laura for 5 years--ever since Duk-Sun taught her in the 2nd grade, and at long last we met her mother. Why did it take so long? 1. She lives in Argentina. 2. She is separated from her husband. 3. Years ago she had a green card for the U.S., but she didn't enter the U.S. for over a year and that made the green card expire. 4. This made it more complicated and difficult to apply for a visitor's visa. It was a difficult visit for us, because we feel for Laura and both of her parents. Children in situations like this really have a rough time.
