Our nephew Hyunshik, who is 16 came to stay several weeks in Atlanta, but we did a funny thing. Right after leaving the airport, instead of taking him to our house, we took him to stay with our friends the Vermilya's. Years ago, when his older brother was only 10, he stayed with the same family for 3 weeks. So this will be a fun experience for him.
After being with the Vermilya's for 3 days, I got an e-mail from Mrs. Vermilya. Here is most of it. You can hear in her voice how much fun they are having. I think it is great for a group of home schooled kids to have this kind of opportunity to interact with an international student their age.
We are having a great time with Hyunshik. He has been to youth group, church, A tour of Bethlehem (and petted his first sheep ever), having advent everynight and has helped with making Christmas cookies. He told me tonight that Christmas is a very exciting time! We have 4 parties in the next 3 days. I think he likes the excitement. His English has been improving everyday. Thank you for bringing him to us for a short while. The kids are taking a real liking to him. He is also helping take care of dogs up the street and is a real help around the house.
