An Unexplainable Happening

For reasons I can't understand, this year in South Korea it is said that of the students who applied to private schools, were accepted, were given i-20s to go to the U.S. embassy to request permission to come and study here--60% were rejected. This is unheard of, but it happened this year--the year we sought to host and tutor children full-time.

Of the two families who wanted to send their children to come here, only one was granted permission--the Parks. This means that Joonha (David) Park can come and study but Jihyun (Julie) and Giwon (William) Kim will have to wait and try again to apply for a visa at a later date. If they go back to apply again too soon, it is feared that they could be black-listed and may not be granted a visa for some years, so they are planning on going back around October or even later to apply again for student visas for their children. The sad thing is, Julie and William had packed and were ready to come here. They had even packed their toothbrushes. We are very sad for them. We are also sad for their parents and ourselves because their parents worked so hard to provide this for them and we were looking forward to them coming to be a part of our family for a year.

We are having trouble dealing with this news. I think that out of 7 or 8 Korean students who were accepted at the private school Joonha will attend, he was the only one who was granted a visa. We are thankful for the fact that he can come, but we are still very sad for the others.

Thank you for your prayers on behalf of these children and us, too. We are not sure what to do next to help them. I'm sure God will help us get through this time if we call on Him.
