Hickory and Elm

These photos were taken on April 30th. Hickory and elm trees are rather interesting. Look at the strange way the nuts come in on the hickory tree.

Elm trees are facinating, too. They do not drop their leaves until the new ones come in in the spring.

I noticed something had been eating the elm leaves.

And here's the caterpillar that ate them. This is his cocoon.
