It took a while, but I found the photos we took two years ago when Jason was here and he found a baby snapping turtle. It just so happens, there were a lot of other boys here--the Robinson's--to encourage him to explore the creek. Here are just the baby snapping turtle's photos this time.

Do you think it is an alligator snapping turle? We found a common snapping turtle last year in September. It was just a baby, too. But it looks different from yours, so I'm thinking it must be.
ReplyDeleteYou may have a point, Abby. If you look at the baby snapping turtle, its shell is a lot more pointed and segmented than the mother snapping turtle's shell. Also, the nose of the baby is rather pointed, like the noses of alligator snapping turtles I've seen on the web.
