Today we picked up J------for her first overnight stay with us. We were relieved when Ms. Morris, her foster mom asked us if we were going to give J------ a new name. She said that the name J------ was given to her by her birth mother, and that as she adopted her children, she changed a name or two. We told her we decided to give J------ the name "Hannah" to celebrate her adoption. Hannah means grace, or favor. Grace means God's unmerited favor toward man. God has shown His matchless grace to us by placing Hannah in our care and allowing her to be our daughter. Furthermore, Hannah means "one" in Korean. Since she is our first child and our first daughter, this seems appropriate. Also, Hannah, spelled "Hana" is a popular girl's name in Japan that means "flower".
Today marks the first time that Hannah will stay overnight at our house. She will also go to church with us tomorrow, where we'll have a church picnic. Here are a few shots from today.
