First Visit to Cumberland Christian Academy

Duk-Sun and I have been praying for God's direction and we are certain that he is calling us to go full time with the international student hosting business. We have been searching for a school that 1) has leaders who have a heart for God, 2) share our passion for helping international students come to know the Lord, and 3) are willing to work with us and allow us to serve the students and their families in the way God leads, and 4) is not so far away from Norcross, where our church is, that we lose fellowship with our dear friends there. I am thankful to report that we found such a school in Cumberland Christian Academy.

We made our first visit to Cumberland Christian Academy today to meet Mr. Kendrick, the principal. Mr. Kendrick was very kind and gave us over 2 hours of his time as we got to know each other and discussed how we can work together to take care of the children God is sending us from overseas. The school is divided into 3 campuses, and Mr. Kendrick's office is at the high school campus, where we went for our meeting. This campus shares space at a church. Joanne, the secretary, gave us a tour of the building. Everyone was so genuine and they gave us a warm welcome.

Michelle Gillis, who I mentioned in an earlier blog post, had told everyone about us before we got there. This has made things go so smoothly. We are so grateful for this chance to obey God's calling, and share the camaraderie of such strong believers.

Here we are with Mr. Kendrick.
On the way home, we passed the famous Silver Comet Trail. This trail is a converted rails to trails trail that is 61 miles long. We hope to ride the trail on weekends after we move to that area.
