- Duk-Sun was called Junko in Japan, and I was called Jeffery. We chose to use other names because people couldn't pronounce our names well. Her name was turned into "Daschund", and I was called "Pole". Don't Jeffery and Junko (pronounced June-ko) sound better!
- We were once on our way to the park and the police used their P.A. system to reprimand us. We had to cancel our trip, turn back and walk home. You see, we were riding double on a bicycle and that is against the law in Japan.
- We had an arranged marriage. God, who is sovereign over all the universe arranged to have us meet at the Georgia State University Marta station platform.
- Speaking of cycling, we once rode our bikes for 10 days in Japan, stopping and camping all over the place. The first night was interesting. We camped in a rice paddy overlooking the sea of Japan. At around 3am, our tent caved in. A typhoon had hit us during the night and the rice paddy had flooded.
- I once cut my eyeball with a flash card while teaching. For a whole year my eye watered and I had to wear a patch over my eye like a pirate.

- Duk-Sun was a member of the drama club in college.
- As a small child growing up in rural South Korea, it was Duk-Sun's job to gather firewood and make the fires for the meals. She is awesome on camping trips!

- Between us, we only have one living biological parent; my father, who is 78.
